Latinx Heritage Month

Latinx Heritage Month

Helen Bernstein’s students celebrated Latinx Heritage Month by showing off their spirit on a Spirit Week:

  • Tuesday, 9/26/2023 – Chancels Vs Botas Day
  • Wednesday, 9/27/2023 – Jersey or Traditional Clothing Day
  • Thursday, 9/28/2023 – Si Se Puede: College Get Day
  • Friday, 9/29/2023 – Flag Day: Wear the Colors of your Flag

Our leadership students held morning announcement segments to celebrate some Latinx successes. They included Gloria Estefan, Frida Kahlo, Ellen Ochoa, Cantinflas, and many more.

On October 9th, leadership students hosted an assembly to celebrate Latinx Heritage. It included a wonderful performance of “La Vida Es Un Carnaval,” by the Royal Dragon Jazz Band, an amazing dance by one of our wonderful student dragons, history facts, a recollection of student artwork inspired by their Latinx Heritage identity, and a fun jeopardy trivia game.

We also had the honor of having a traditional Aztec dance performance to conclude our assembly. It was fantastic to see the many arts that are part of the Latinx culture.
